Wuzheng Europe offered the Municipality of Gavdos the first of two 3MX electric 3-wheel commercial vehicles to meet the island’s needs!
Athens, 09 June 2021 – Greek-based Wuzheng Europe, an expert in the manufacture and distribution of light and heavy-duty vehicles, took what is both a symbolic and a substantive step as part of its Corporate Responsibility activities. To promote sustainable mobility, and recognising the vital need to support remote areas of Greece, the company donated one 3MX electric commercial vehicle and an 11kW wall box to the remote Municipality of Gavdos. A second 3MX vehicle will be delivered in the months to come.
3MX is a light three-wheel commercial vehicle with zero pollutant emissions and zero noise, ideal for effectively meeting the island’s needs, while respecting the unique, virgin environment, even during the tourist season when demand is higher. Thanks to this donation, Wuzheng Europe is making a practical contribution to the overall effort to replace motor vehicles with electric vehicles and to improve the entire range of services offered by the Municipality of Gavdos on the island.
Mrs. Manolia Stefanaki, Mayor of the Municipality of Gavdos, said: “Our overriding objective is to transform Gavdos into a ‘green’ island. Respecting the environment and rationally using modern technology that allows us to take steps in this direction, we are optimistic that we will deliver an island free of pollutants to the next generation, having laid solid foundations for them to build a better, more environmentally-friendly island tomorrow. We thank the company for its contribution. It is particularly pleasing that more and more citizens and businessmen are paying attention to what the remote island of Gavdos really deserves. This move also represents a promise for us: to do everything in our power so that Gavdos, with its centuries-old history clearly visible in its landscape, is a source of inspiration and an example to be imitated, in terms of how to manage sustainability issues, and in terms of a wider understanding of the relationship between man and his natural home!”.
Mr. Panagiotis Tharouniatis, CEO of Wuzheng Europe, said: “Undoubtedly, the rapid rate of growth in electrification in Europe is both a challenge and a major opportunity. In any event, the European Union has expressed in every possible way its strong commitment to creating the appropriate infrastructure, and has made clear its determination to complete that infrastructure in a well-orchestrated and organised manner. A vital condition for effectively implementing this is that all of us make a contribution. 2021 is a landmark year for Wuzheng. Fully aware of the importance of the environment, the company has embraced the beautiful island of Gavdos, creating conditions there that will lead to a reduction in its energy footprint”.
Mr. Panagiotis Karavellas, Wuzheng Europe’s Sales & After Sales Manager stated:
“Sustainability plays a decisive role in improving the living conditions of citizens, safeguarding the environment in the short-term and above all in the long-term. All modern states are obliged to pursue this in their development programmes, and all citizen and businesses are obliged to actively participate in that endeavour. In light of this, we are sending out a clear message starting from the ‘European’s southernmost point’, implementing new technologies that aim at sustainable, clean cars. We are very pleased about this action taken in cooperation with the Municipality of Gavdos and are renewing our commitment to future measures that seek to protect and restore the natural environment and biodiversity.”
